Abstract: Based on Marxism - Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, and national reality, the Communist Party of Vietnam has been aware of and creatively applied the general economic model of the transitional period to socialism in developing the socialist-oriented market economy in Vietnam. The article overviews the Party’s perspective of the socialist-oriented market economy in Vietnam. Thereby, the article clarifies the theory of the general economic model of the transitional period to socialism in Vietnam that was depicted in the book “Some theoretical and practical issues of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam” by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
