SUMMARY OF MAIN ARTICLES

*Le Quoc Ly: Comrade Truong Chinh’s contribution in economic thinking innovation of the Party

Comrade Truong Chinh made great contributions, which were decisive to the national economic development in early period of the innovation. He was the author of the innovationguidelines, including the Party’s innovation of economic thinking. In his views, being
consistent to Marxism - Leninism means strongly and thoroughly innovate theoretical and economic thinking to create a bond between theory and practice. Besides, it is essential to stay away from any signs of bureaucratic red tape, to frankly criticize and self-criticize and point out any flaw and weakness, and to devote oneself in the innovation path.

*Tran Van Phong: The individual - society relationship in Vietnam today

Each socio-economic form has its own traits of solving the individual - society relationship. In the transitional period to socialism, solving the individual - society relationship must be
consistent with socialist orientation. It should be noted that Vietnam is still in the transitional period to socialism, so solving the relationship in a socialist trait is not yet appropriate. Besides, it is necessary to thoroughly eradicate centralization - subsidy mechanism and its negative
impacts; Handle the relationship in the light of the motto “Prosperous people, strong nation,
democratic, just and civilized society”. Also, negative “group benefits” should be prevented; the Party’s distribution mechanism should be well implemented and Vietnamese people should be in comprehensive development.

*Bui Thi Ngoc Lan: The fourth industrial revolution and posing issues to Vietnam

The fourth industrial revolution is a newly-posing worldwide issue. The highlights of this
revolution is its wide application of high-technology achievements, especially information and digital technology, artificial intelligence and network connection to manage and create breakthrough changes in socio-economic development in many countries. The development of the fourth revolution is posing both opportunities and challenges, demanding for thorough study to find out appropriate development strategy in a timely manner. By this way, the “shortened development” path can be succeeded, and fast and sustainable development in Vietnam can be ensured.

*Phan Manh Toan: Independence in the traditional philosophy of protecting the Vietnam Fatherland

Independent nation is one of the fundamentals in traditional philosophy of protecting the Vietnam Fatherland. It is the fruits of a prolonged process of understanding and perceiving based on realities of the country in each historical periods. Despite the historical-based
shortcomings still exist in the conception of independent nation in traditional philosophy of protecting the Vietnam Fatherland, its values laid in the national history of theories is
undeniable. The conception affirmed, the united, independent nation of Vietnam is a fact, a sacred entity which cannot be invaded by any enemy. The preservation and protection of that united, independent nation is the requirement of the people and the country throughout the history.

*Luong Thu Hien: Women’s participation in parliament - Trends and relevant factors

The study of women’s participation in parliament is not for the study purposes itself, but for national sustainable development goals. Based on the data of women participating in parliaments worldwide, the article draws out general assessment of the slowly rising trend in the ratio of women’s participation in parliament from 1995 to 2015. Also, the article points out four fundamental factors affecting the proportion of women in parliaments, which are constitution and laws, the election system, traditional cultural values, and male - female ratio among party members and their parliamentary involvements.

*Nguyen Thanh Tuan: The right to adequate living standard and practice in Vietnam

Human rights can be classified in natural rights (living basis like foods, clothes, shelters, etc); and social rights (civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights). Natural rights, including rights to adequate living standard, are the natural, indispensable premise of human existence and human rights in general. Ensuring the rights in Vietnam is in accordance to international law of human rights and the works have been comprehensively carried out, from building
institution to practicing, and have achieved good results. In current period, it should be focused on shifting from hunger eradication, poverty reduction to sustainable poverty reduction in order to reach international living standard
