Abstract: The article analyzes the Marxism founding fathers’ fundamental ideologies on family and its meaning to social development. From the published study results, the article analyzes and identifies the main challenges Vietnamese families pose in meeting the requirements of national industrialization and modernization. From that basis, the author proposes issues to be further focused on to apply the thoughts of K.Marx and F.Engels on family and further promote the family’s roles to meet requirements of social development in Vietnam in the new period.
